Here in Norfolk, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the great outdoors. Being a dog owner myself, I’m always enjoying long coastal walks and when I go away I’m always looking for the option for my dog to join us. After all, she’s a part of the family. It takes a massive weight off my mind knowing she’s in my company and gives her an opportunity to explore new surroundings and smells.

There are plenty of pet friendly cottages in Norfolk which are located in stunning towns and villages. All surrounded by beautiful walks, if it’s along the beach, through the village or nature reserve. There really is plenty of destinations to visit and after a long day it’s always nice to spend some quality time with the family in a lovely cottage.

Norfolk Breaks will provide you with some information to help you choose your next holiday destination. Below are just some topics I will be covering and discussing in more detail;

Norfolk Cottages

Holiday Cottages provide a wide range of accommodation for all types of visitors. Being a dog friendly county they don’t forget about our little companions and provide some really nice pet friendly cottages in Norfolk. They’re dozens of small villages and towns around Norfolk which all have their very own character and with a cottage to put your feet up in at the end of the day really makes you feel about of your surroundings. Being a coastal county there are many cottages to be found across the countryside with ideal walks and restaurants to try.

Sandy Paws

Your four legged friends will love the vast sandy beaches which North Norfolk has to offer. With sweeping beaches with plenty of room to run and play. Allow them to weave in and out of sand dunes with new smells and wildlife that will keep your pet active for hours! We recommend checking the tide times as many of these beaches are best enjoyed at low-tide. There’s a reason why many dog lovers head to the north Norfolk coast and that’s because it’s known for being one of the most dog-friendly locations in the UK. Here are a couple of my personal favourite beaches

  • Wells-Next-The-Sea
  • Holkham
  • Thornham
  • Brancaster

Can We Live There?

Norfolk provides amazing estates and gardens which are available to stroll round as you please. With houses dating back to the 15th Century it really is a must visit. Sadly pets aren’t allowed into the gardens and buildings but they do offer enjoyable walks around the grounds. I’d recommend the following;

  • Holkham Hall
  • Blickling Hall
  • Felbrigg Hall

It’s Thirsty Work!

After enjoying a walk on the beach or visiting a nearby attraction, it’s time to top up those hydration levels. There are many independent local pubs and cafes which provide a real treat after a long day. Personally I love to enjoy a drink and watch the world go by and I have so many recommendations for you to explore. I’ll let you into my personal favourite, The Goldan Fleece in Wells- Next-The-Sea, based in the harbour it over looks fishing boats and the salt mashes, they also serve up some lovely pizzas!

Many of the pubs and cafes based around the coast are pet friendly, so you don’t need to leave your dog back at the cottage worrying they’ve chewed the leg off the sofa.

Time to Refuel!

Norfolk offers great food options, having a long coastline and agricultural heritage means we provide a range of local food producers, wonderful delis and independent restaurants some including their own micro-breweries. I’ll be providing you with a selection of my personal favourites including pet friendly options of course. I’m a lover for great food and love to try out new businesses and I hope I can persuade you to give them ago.

Eating out every evening can be expensive, so self-catering cottages are available for rent. Fully equipment meaning you don’t require packing the kitchen sink. Cook up some lovely homegrown food and enjoy your evening!

I hope I’ve interested you into the possibility of making Norfolk your next holiday destination. There’s so much on offer and I really hope with my recommendations and little bits of advice, I can help you enjoy your break.

  1. Wow! Admittedly Norfolk has not been a place of interest for me, however, reading through a few of your articles (including this one), has really helped me to see how picturesque and peaceful Norfolk must be.
    We wouldn’t travel that far with our pets, but certainly would with our children, therefore, I loved reading options suited to our family, particularly the cottages, various walks and surrounds, as well as dining!

    An excellent niche, website, and content. Go Norfolk!
